It sounds almost implausible that someone could sell fake insurance but I guess people have sold fake investment products, so why is it all that surprising someone would figure out how to sell fake auto insurance too.
A Texas woman once worked for an insurance company and obtained her property & casualty license. Apparently she began selling fake policies to mostly spanish-speaking Hispanic clients, under the (incorrect) assumption they would not want to file a complaint against her.
Boy was she wrong. As many as 150 complaints were filed. Unfortunately, many of those duped filed a complaint only after they were involved in an accident or claim, only to find out they did not actually have real insurance.
While this story is a rare occurrence, maybe it is good to check sources like the Better Business Bureau. Our firm has an A+ rating with the BBB.
