Wow - isn't it amazing how much Glendale has grown the past decade?
There was a time when Glendale was a forgotten town due to its close proximity to Phoenix. But Glendale has developed its own successful image and continues to growing into a nationally recognized city in its own right.

Have you ever checked out the websites for various city governments?
I know it sounds like a weird thing to do. But one thing you will immediately notice is how some cities/towns understand the value of being online, having a web presence and catering to those who use the web (which includes just about everyone). Then you will notice how other cities really have no clue about the value of the web.
Talking about one city that seems to understand - Glendale Arizona. Check out the following website below.
Visit Glendale
This is not the official city website but this link is featured on the home page of the official Glendale city website. Pretty smart to have a link that offers information on things happening and going on in Glendale. I think they should even give this link more pizzazz.
What impressed me the most was two things: 1) the web page has a "fun" feel to it and 2) it has tabs that guide you easily to areas of interest and things to do in Glendale. The website is colorful and useful - two items that contribute greatly to its success.
Now compare that with the City of Phoenix website at
City of Phoenix
Ho Hum comes to mind. It's too impersonal. Too dry. Too business like. Where's the fun, Phoenix??
Do you think I am making too much of nothing? Did you know that Pepsi is not running any ads during the Super Bowl. Consider this - I was told by someone I respect that the $10 million they would have spent is instead going toward online marketing.

NEWS ABOUT GLENDALE ARIZONA
The City of Glendale is considering making texting a violation of the law. While texting is not the only culprit for driver inattention - the major cause of accidents, it certainly is one of the major reasons. Texting, drinking coffee, and talking on a cell phone are the three big reasons why drivers find themselves involved in an accident.
Phoenix will fine drivers $100 if caught texting while driving and $250 if the driver is involved in a accident while driving and texting. Glendale officials are studying the Phoenix law to see if they can model their program likewise. State lawmakers are considering a bill that will extend to all cities.
